Column presses

The column press is characterized by its stable and flexible design. The press frame consists of an upper and lower section connected by robust guide columns. The ram is guided by the columns, enabling highly precise working processes. The hydraulic unit is usually installed separately, but depending on the size, it can also be mounted directly on the press.

Hydraulic column presses are suitable for forming small to large workpieces as well as for applications such as calibrating and cutting metals. In addition, versions as hot presses with heating and optional cooling plates are available.

The column presses are available with pressing forces from 50 kN to 3,000 kN and are individually adapted to the respective application. The series are available as the SP2 2-column press and the SP4 4-column press.

More than standard
– developed for your requirements

Each hydraulic press is developed and manufactured specifically for the requirements of the respective application. Technical parameters such as pressing force, stroke, installation height, output and dimensions therefore vary depending on the application.

In addition to the usual standardization, the focus is on the precise design of all components for the respective process. This results in technically sophisticated press systems that meet the highest requirements for performance, precision and process reliability.

  • Optimal accessibility: Depending on the version, column presses offer access from two sides (2-column press) or four sides (4-column press) between the guide columns.
  • Ideal for automation: Thanks to their open design, hydraulic column presses are ideally suited for automated processes with robots or transfer systems.

Your questions,
our answers

Here we answer the questions we are asked most frequently.
Should you have any further questions, we look forward to hearing from you.

In principle, a distinction is made between versions with 2 columns or 4 columns. In addition to the classic vertical design, we also realize horizontal column presses or specific special geometries in special machine construction, depending on the application.

2-column presses are space-saving, offer good access and are generally more economical to purchase, but provide lower rigidity. 4-column presses, on the other hand, impress with high stability and, thanks to the passage between all four columns, provide the perfect geometric basis for automation solutions, feeding systems and transfer systems.

Due to their design, column presses are susceptible to transverse forces. A strongly off-center or asymmetrical load on the ram should be avoided, as this can lead to premature wear of the guide bushings. For processes with high tilting moments, double-sided presses are the better choice.
